On experiments, having fun, and seeing what happens...
... when I post a note featuring funny The Rasmus lyrics every day for 10 days.
You know how the Substack algorithm likes to spit advice at you à la… consistency is key - posting a note daily is a great way to “make the algorithm notice you”?
I love being creative but… the idea of posting a note daily kinda stumped me. About what? I don’t want to shout into the void just for the sake of it. I have made myself one golde rule around my online presence, and that is:
I’ll only do what feels right, good, or fun.
I’m still fairly new to this whole Substack thing; I’m a bit over a month in. I know I love it here, I know I want to stay and figure out how to make this work for me, but I don’t know yet how exactly.
Two weeks ago, I went to see my teenage favourite band, The Rasmus, with my husband. It was awesome, not just because it was my first time seeing this band perform in their hometown - ooh the magic, you could just feel it’s different - but also because it was the first time I shared this musical love with my husband.
Ever since, their songs have been playing on loop in my head, and honestly, they have some lyrics and lines that make me chuckle every time I hear or think of them.
So I had an idea.
It’s weird, it’s quirky, it’s random, but what the heck - it also sounds fun, and therefore, it fits into my golden rule of being present online:
I’ll post a note with some The Rasmus lyrics (the ones that make me chuckle) every day for 10 days here on Substack, and see what happens.
And then I’ll write about it.
Maybe I’ll discover something useful, maybe I won’t, but it’s a win-win anyway:
If all else fails, at least I get to have a little laugh every time I write a new note. And we can all do with a little dose of joy in our every day lives, right?
